Waterloo, ON

For the Ontario Teachers Insurance Policy building in Waterloo, the architects were looking for something unique – specifically, high-end custom steel staircases that would serve to accent the facility. Hill’s Metalfab was called on to custom manufacture and install them. Using a combination of polished stainless steel rails accented by the clean parallel lines of taut aircraft cable, these staircases add elegance and flair to the space.

Challenger Motor Freight Inc.

Cambridge, ON

A reputation for quality and dependability earned this signature project for Hill’s Metalfab. Attention to detail and superb craftsmanship earned the subsequent recognition the project received. The stainless steel foyer staircase with glass panels, open risers and maple treads was designed to serve as a key architectural element in the Challenger Motor Freight foyer. A second staircase in the interior office area extended the architectural theme through the facility. This exceptional project led the Grand Valley Construction Association to confer its highest award of recognition, the Leeds Award, upon both the General Contractor and Hill’s Metafab.

Chris and Arlete Hill are particularly proud to have won this contract. As parents, they can appreciate the service that these camps provide to underprivileged children. As business people, they were excited by the opportunity to provide a variety of elements for this project. From structural steel for multiple buildings, to the spiral staircase that leads up to the observatory – Hill’s Metalfab became an integral part of creating this special facility.

Brantford Honda wanted their showroom staircase and mezzanine to create a strong visual impact for anyone entering the space. The combination of a radius stair and perforated stainless steel mesh infill for railings brings an elegant yet contemporary feel to the showroom that raises it well above the ordinary. With this project, Hill’s Metalfab once again brought the architect’s vision to life with their expertise and craftsmanship.

East Elgin Community Complex
531 Talbot St. W.,
Aylmer, ON

Hill’s Metalfab manufactured and installed the wide, L-shaped, central stair, with gleaming polished stainless steel rails and glass infill that compliments the arched main entrance to the East Elgin Community Complex in Aylmer, Ontario. Built for both impact and heavy wear, the stair provides a visual focal point for the entry area. Elsewhere in the facility, sturdy bleacher rails, and robust metal railings on the concrete arena stairs reflect Hill’s Metalfab’s commitment to meet the need for durability and safety in this public facility.

St. Thomas Timken Community Centre
2 Third Ave.,
St. Thomas, ON

http://www.city.st-thomas.on.ca

Openness, functionality and durability were key design elements for the St. Thomas Community Centre. Hill’s Metalfab custom manufactured and installed the wide, Y-shaped main entry stair with polished stainless steel railings. More gleaming stainless steel railings encircled the mezzanine, while sturdy metal viewing rails met the need for a more functional, heavy duty railing around the perimeter of the arena. Additional features of this project included heavy duty concrete filled stair pans, glass infill and stainless steel hand mounted brackets.

Cooney Transport
76 Sinclair Blvd.,
Brantford, ON

Cooney Transport was looking for functional, safe staircases with clean lines and no clutter in their Brantford facility. Hill’s Metalfab delivered on that objective with a custom manufactured u-shaped staircase framing the main entrance lobby. The lobby stair featured concrete filled pan style treads, perforated flat mesh infill and stainless steel railings and wall mounts.

Stronach Community Recreation Centre
1221 Sandford St.,
London, ON

http://www.london.ca/

When it comes to structures for outdoor recreational use, two things are critical: safety and the ability to take a beating from both the weather…and from many energetic feet. Hill’s Metalfab met the Stronach Community Recreation Centre’s requirements admirably with the manufacture and installation of this rugged steel stair, railings and support structure. All components of the installation were finished with a hot-dipped galvanized coating to protect against the elements and heavy usage. In addition to the heavy duty structural members, a mid-level landing break, tightly spaced uprights on the rails, and textured treads all contribute to keeping excited children (and the young at heart) safe as they climb to reach the long curved slide affectionately known as "The Blaster".
